When I do fieldwork in Kenya we have to travel to town about twice a week to get our tires fixed. This is because A)they have crappy tires in Kenya, and B)we beat the crap out of the ones we have driving where there are no roads. We keep 2 spares for each vehicle.
When we do go to town to get the tired fixed, we always go to one place.
Partly this is because it’s the only place in town.
But mostly because these guys are amazing. They can change a tire quicker than an Indy pit-crew, and they do it with make-shift tools.
I recommend getting a flat in the backroads of Kenya just to see this in action…
